Solar farms as large as 30MW can now be managed with one click of a button. The Sunpower solar farm in California is just one more example of the “set it and ALMOST forget it” nature of solar farms. While there is greater risk in the tracking farms, the reality is that they are built so robustly and that repairs or replacement have already been built into the financial models.
They are getting larger and larger, and it will be no time flat before deserts in Africa and the Middle East are put to better use than drilling through them for oil…
