Remote community power quests…

In the North, communities struggle with power sources. In this article, we read about $1 per kwatt hour, far “north” of what solar would cost them.

And yet they are actively considering micro nuclear as an option. This is a far less tested source of power, involves a very large and long approval process and comes with its hard and soft financial costs beyond the simple cost of generating power.

With tons of land available, a 10MW solar farm would require about 150acres and cost about $40M to install (more than in southern areas due to access and transport costs). This is comparable to the micro nuclear costs, yet without any of the safety or security costs, and a far less costly approval process.

Its like we don’t learn from our history sometimes….
