Yahoo’s former CEO calls it as it was when she was fired. Holds no bullets, tells the board and the world that she was “f***ed”, which means she lets go of $10Million severance, given the non-disparagement clause in her contract.
Frankly, my analysis is that she had the most impossible task…cut costs and increase revenues. She was successful on the first front, while admitting through the partnership with Bing that she needed strong partners to achieve the second. Yet the board, under the gun, had to find a fall person and couldn’t wait for stage two to take hold.
I admire her for standing for her principles over taking the money. When this person looks you in the eye, believe what she is saying as the value of her word just skyrocketed. While this may not be the most loved executive in the exclusive boy’s club, if you’re looking for someone who will take no prisoners in the execution of a mandate, I have a feeling you’ll be getting in line to hire her.
