Sustainability reporting…does your company do it?

I recently looked at Apple‘s website with a view to rethink the look and feel of both the Sunlogics Inc. website, and that of the eventual Sunlogics Power Fund site. I am even wondering if our website servers, as well as the one for this solar blog, shouldn’t be verified for their sustainable practices (ie. why shouldn’t they be solar powered servers?)…

A recent article in Reuters spoke of investors desires to understand the sustainability strategies and executions of the companies they invest in. Sounds like something that we’d better get on board as well, seeing as we are operating in renewable energies.

I guess the point is simply about how corporations report and are held to a communal responsibility towards a greater good when it comes to environmental practices. Now please don’t go labelling me a socialist, because I do subscribe to free entreprise, yet within the boundaried beliefs that a greater good is what truly elevates us. It is simply the path to that greater good some differ on, and that’s more of a discussion to have over a nice cold beer or chilled Chablis.

What are your thoughts about sustainability reporting? Should each of us have a “sustainability” record attached to us? If we measure how many Facebook likes we have, why not how much carbon we have saved through our own efforts?
