The electric car infrastructure dilemna…

Electric cars are coming. Are the oil kings worried? Not likely.

It will be decades before electric cars develop their technology to the point where gasoline will be completely wiped out as a source of power. However, some people are beginning to lay down infrastructure, even if in small amounts, which will foretell the future, including solar powered charging stations for EV cars.

In Houston, electric car charging stations are popping up. The new solar power company I am involved with, Sunlogics, is building them for General Motors new Volt car, using solar power as their energy source.

These are all small steps, yet incrementally, they will start to make a difference. As battery technology develops to permit longer rides without recharging, as more charging stations are built along highways, in cities, etc, then we can say that the end of the gas-powered car is foretold. The question is not whether, rather it is when.
